What is a refrigeration link?
It is a tube whose particularity is to ensure the transport of the refrigerant (propane, ammonia, isobutane) from one point to another in the cooling system. It is a tube often used in two directions, i.e. both ways. It is made of copper. The choice of this material is made according to its low level of oxidation. This allows the transport of fluids without the risk of loss, heating or condensation.
We install refrigerating connections on air conditioners and refrigerators, but also on cold rooms. But before this can be done, there must first be a separation between the components that are essential for the use of the refrigerant. These are the devices that produce the cold and the diffuser. In short, there are refrigerating connections on the majority of appliances capable of producing cold.
Under what conditions is a good refrigeration connection made?
In order for a refrigerating connection is effective, certain elements and conditions must be met.
In particular, the tubes must be made of copper as stipulated above, but for the fluid not to deteriorate in terms of temperature, the tube you have chosen must have a good thickness. The same will apply to the cross-section of the equipment. In fact, these two data must be determined according to the distance between the different appliances. And as for the appliances, externally we will have either compressors or air conditioners, and internally diffusers which will be either split or console.
If the thickness is expressed in centimetres, the cross-section is expressed in inches. You can also choose insulated connections, therefore protected by a material such as leather for example. All these precautions are important as the fluid to be drained is extremely volatile and subject to heat loss. But in any case, when choosing the dimensions and characteristics of your refrigerant connection, care must be taken to know, and to respect, what the machine manufacturer has indicated as a standard.
Why is thermal insulation so important?
It is possible to choose to make a double connection, with different mains data and thickness depending on the tubes. But the data that will not change is the thermal insulation of the connections. This considerably reduces the risk of condensation. Apart from copper, it is possible to choose high-strength polyethylene to insulate the tubes.
However, depending on the type of cooling system to be installed, it may be necessary to use bare connecting tubes. In this case, the thickness of the copper will be important and decisive. In addition to this standard, the fire resistance is also taken into account. It is recommended to choose insulation rated M1 in this case.
How to choose a refrigeration link?
The manufacturer's specifications of the machine on which the work is to be carried out are the first point to be taken into consideration. But apart from this there are other details that should not be overlooked. This way you can make the best choice based on comparisons that you can make and tests that you can carry out.
